Sometimes it feels like each day runs into the other. We wake up and get ready, feed the kids, do the household chores, go to work, ride the crazy train, get home, make dinner, take the kids to hockey - dancing - skating - basketball - etc., make lunches for the next day, get the kids ready for bed, watch a little TV, read or even continue working into the wee hours of the night and then off to dreamland for a few short hours before beginning the entire cycle again. Every day - 7 days a week!
It’s no wonder we are stressed, overwhelmed and often too exhausted to even think about anything other than “what’s next on the calendar.”
Most of us, if not all of us, live such busy lives that it is not hard to forget about keeping the one thing that keeps us steady in our daily life - our Faith!
I bring my own Faith-Walk into my daily routine. When I wake up in the morning I start with gratitude for “actually waking up.” It is not a given we will wake up each day. It is a gift to be alive and saying “thank you” for the gift of life is a pretty good way to start your day.
I feel better each day when I gave thanks and I bring my Faith into my routine daily. While getting ready for each day I asked for guidance and awareness as I go through my day. I ask for help to be more conscious as to what was going on around me so I can be more compassionate and kind to those who need it, and that compassion and kindness is not just for others, but for myself as well.
I am thankful for the food on our table. I am thankful for my family and the ability to be able to work, to get my work finished, to be able to accomplish all the tasks I needed to get done throughout the day.
Gratitude is just one part of my daily routine. I also invite God to be part of the things I do and ask for His blessings upon them. By doing this act of “asking”, I feel lighter somehow, as though some of the burdens of the surmounting tasks I have in front of me each day become more bearable. By inviting God to be with me in all I do, things stir in me in such a way that I feel I can get more done with much less stress and overwhelm. I like this feeling of calm.
Whatever your Faith-Walk is, are you bringing it into your daily life? Take the next few weeks and invite your Faith into all areas of your life. Take note of the changes that begin to happen. It may just surprise you to know it has been with you all along - you only needed to tap into it.
