Embracing Change

As I woke this morning three words came to my mind. Rebirth,  Renew and Hope were playing like a mantra over and over. At first, I thought this was very strange, but then I realized what day it was and the message became very clear.  Today is Easter Sunday and Easter is a celebration of renewal, rebirth and new hope.

“ Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”  ~ 1 Peter 1:3

To renew means making change. Making changes in any area of your life, whether it is personal or in business, the struggle and the wonder of “if” this new direction is the “right” decision will come up time and again. Where, when and how is the right way to make this transition? Our need for proof and guarantees of a positive outcome become the very downfall that compromises our success.
“Doubting” Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples, had great difficulty in seeing the positive without proof. He constantly focused on the darker side of life and chose only to believe when he could see, touch or had a first-hand personal experience with something tangible.

It is on Easter Sunday that Thomas reveals to us just how significant the need for proof is before he is willing to believe. He required the proof to see the nail marks in Jesus’ hands before he would believe that Jesus had risen from the dead. It is in Jesus’s reply that a glorious message is revealed: “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”   ~ John 20:29

I think most of us have a bit of a “Doubting Thomas” mentality lurking somewhere in our being. I think most of us need to see, touch and have a first-hand positive experience with something tangible before we can believe that any kind of change is the right direction we need to take.

Many of you may have been contemplating change, discovering new ideas and wondering what new directions life may take you. Many of you have stopped yourself from moving forward because you can’t see, touch or experience the success of what is yet to come. That “thing” that stops you is fear.
Through any transitional journey “fear” can have an incredible hold you.  The fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of success and fear of being judged.  Realize, that those fears are just past patterns you adopt to self-sabotage becoming all that you are meant to be. Know, that it is time to break free of this bondage.

Just as Moses led the slaves of Egypt out of bondage and just as Jesus, while nailed to the cross and His body riddled with pain, prayed to God to free us from bondage in sin; it’s time to let God lead you out of the bondage of fear and into the glory of hope.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland”   ~
Isaiah 43:18-19

Easter is the time of miracles and there are lessons to be learned. This is your time for new chances and fresh beginnings. This is your time to let go of  the very things that hold you back and look to new strength, new hope, and a new life.

When you look to God for direction, you can live an amazing life full of purpose and when you invite Him to be part of all you do, you can become a powerful servant to others through God.

“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.” ~ Ezekiel 11:19

When will you choose to believe in yourself, your gifts and your purpose for serving others? When will you trust enough in yourself and God’s purpose for you to risk change and follow a new direction? When will you take action in new directions with the belief that God will always have your back?

Easter is a time for Rebirth. It’s a time to renew faith and renew dreams. It’s time to live with hope in your heart. Hope begins with belief and belief begins with a choice. I believe the only choice we have is to always look forward and never give up. God can turn things around in a single moment. You only need to choose to believe.
